During the third week of the Digital Arts program at Just BGraphic’s Summer Arts Academy, the students built upon what they have learned about advertising fallacies in social studies and made a magazine cover collage using Adobe Photoshop. The students made these magazine cover collages to show how advertisements and companies distort one’s perceptions and instills false ideas about oneself and the world. Some main themes we talked about in class include the distorted perception of beauty, success and happiness. Students were able to use the skills they have previously learned in class such as layer masks and blending techniques to create their collage by cutting, blending and merging different images into one composition. For the second part of the project, students continued to learn more about Adobe Flash and how to apply different effects to create different transitions and movements to objects and created animations for their collages. Stay tuned for more next week!
