To make any kind of change, one has to have the will and determination to do it – Carey Riley is undoubtedly that person who possesses the passion to achieve greatness. Born and raised in Toronto, Carey was surrounded by music at a very young age; her father was a lead singer in a band that played various shows across the city and toured internationally. Constantly surrounded by musicians and records, it almost seemed destined for her to have a career in the music industry.
Carey majored in marketing and advertising at Humber College, producing monthly artist showcases and working part-time for Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) as a marketing intern and street team rep while attending classes. After completing college, she obtained the role of Lifestyle Marketing Representative at BMG Canada, where she eventually rose to become the Manager of Lifestyle Marketing. In this position, Carey was influential in facilitating several key artists promotion strategies for BMG’s subsidiary labels, such as: RCA, LaFace, Arista, Jive, Bad Boy and Loud (SRC)
After establishing a strong national lifestyle team, Carey was then promoted to Associate Manager in Marketing and was responsible for the development and execution of marketing and advertising initiatives in Canada for a dedicated roster including: Wyclef Jean, Natasha Beddingfield, John Legend, Clipse, and many others. During this time, Carey along with a close friend started a management company – Real Mark Global Group; which managed the careers of artists such as: Juno nominated group – IRS, Frank ‘N’ Dank and the official Toronto Raptors DJ – 4 Korners.
In 2008, Carey was recruited to Universal Music Canada to take on the role of Marketing Manager for Island/Def Jam. In this position, she was in charge of overseeing and handing the national marketing campaigns for both domestic and international artists such as: Shawn Desman, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Melanie Fiona and most notably – Justin Bieber, whom she worked very closely with in his early development stages and was instrumental in helping him achieve his early success in Canada. After spending 5 years in the Marketing at Universal, Carey decided to transition her career into Brand Management and became a Brand Partnerships Manager identifying and developing artist opportunities with various corporate brands.
Now evolving into the next phase of her journey, Carey is continuing to build her own brand.
