Just BGRAPHIC Co-Opeative Education Program

Providing students with opportunities to explore occupational and educational pathways in the arts and culture sector through experiential learning.

Cooperative Educational Experiences

Our cooperative educational program is built on partnerships with your establishments and educational institutions that lead the arts and culture industries.  Together we would provide senior high school students the opportunity to intern with the intent to:

  • Experience hands-on learning in their respective arts culture and entertainment business sector.
  • Develop the essential skills and habits required in the workplace
  • Gain valuable work experience to help build a resumé for postsecondary programs and future employment

The experience gained form this co-op program will afford students the opportunity to “Test-drive” career options and see the relevance of their classroom learning. Students who successfully complete the co-op placement will earn two co-op credits towards their compulsory high school graduation requirements, with no limit of earning optional co-op credits.

Student application process:

To be eligible for any co-op opportunities, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be currently enrolled in one of two Specialist High Skills Major  (SHSM) programs: Arts & Culture, Information Technology and Communication.
  • Must have a recent CV (Resume)
  • Must write a 1 page essay on why they are interested in taking a placement.

Upon meeting the above criteria, students will then be paired with our Co-op education partners and commence the learning journey. Partners may also request to a do a short interview to ensure student is a good fit for the placement.

What would a placement look like?

There are two types of placements: 2 credit (half day) or 4 credit (full day).

Both programs run for the duration of a school semester (14 weeks) and start as early as 8am and ending no later than 4pm. From week 1-10 students will be required to do  in-school day and 4 in-placement days. Following the 10 weeks, students will be placed in a college or university classroom, and assigned a partner where they will experience 4 weeks of in class assignments, meetings with student admissions office, student career planning and much more.   As part of the student safety and success. Just BGRAPHIC supervisors and the school co-op coordinator are required to visit the student at various checkpoints throughout the placement.
