During the second week of the Digital Arts program at Just BGraphic’s Summer Arts Academy, students were able to reflect on their understanding of government and politics which they have learned in their social studies class, and apply them to their digital arts project. The students worked on creating a political art poster using a portrait of themselves, in the style of Shepard Fairey’s Obama Hope poster on Adobe Photoshop. Students learned to apply different effects and techniques to their poster including gradient maps, channel mixer, curves and other adjustment layer effects. The students also learned how to apply and use effective typography on their poster. For the second part of the project, students learned and created a short animation of their political poster on Adobe Flash. Students were introduced to the basics of animation on Adobe Flash including how to move images around and apply transition effects to the images.
