Description
This program explicitly recognizes and addresses the traumatic effects school and capitalism has on our psyches, nervous system, and sense of self worth. The energy of pleasure activism, of Joy and play as inherently political and revolutionary is very much present.
Sessions would start with a check in and a warm up involving fun movement to get participants in their bodies and comfortable with each other. (introducing mindfulness, yoga asana, breath work, with brief team building movement activities, etc.)
after students are more relaxed we would get into the art activities. These activities will invite participants to use a diverse array of different media for tactical variety. Then, drawing from art therapy practices, we would close with a sharing circle. Students have the opportunity to share what came up during the session, which will inevitably lead to therapeutic healing in such a safe container. Students will grow more comfortable expressing their emotions. We all deeply desire to be heard and express ourselves, this part alone is a great medicine for our community.
