Intro to Canadian R&B Vocal

Introducing an eye-opening workshop that will take you on an exploration of Canada’s pivotal role in the uniquely compelling genre of R&B music. This incredibly inviting and informative session is crafted with singers of all skill levels and ages in mind. Our interactive vocal classes make it easy for learners to discover the rich stylings, stories, and sounds of Canadian-based R&B, drawing links from its influences from the Caribbean and US.

In this 90-180min crash course, students will be given the opportunity to hone their vocal abilities through group activities and individual performances. Depending on their comfort level, greater emphasis can be placed on whichever aspect – technique, improvisation or acappella  – they feel needs work. Each class follows a slightly different structure based on the topics being covered during the associated week, at its core is a module designed to lend insight into  the timbre, tones, harmonics and beats that form the foundation of R&B singing within a Canadian context.
