Dance REVOLT is a full day dance conference open to students in grades 8-12 + College and University students.
Date: November 15, 2023
Time: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Location: The Second Student Centre, 3rd floor, York University (map)
Cost: $45/student (Includes Table Talk, 3 Workshops, Masterclass, and T-shirt)
An Immersive Educational Experience
A day dedicated to exploring the rich educational opportunities within the world of dance. Open to students in grades 8-12, as well as college and university students, this conference offers a unique blend of dance education, cultural exploration, and creative expression that aligns seamlessly with the Ontario Dance Curriculum.
Educational Highlights:
Choreography, History, and Culture of Hip Hop and Dancehall
- “Dance Revolt” dives deep into the heart of two dynamic dance forms, Hip Hop and Dancehall. These styles are more than just dance; they are living expressions of culture and history.
Conference Outcomes and Benefits:
Cultural Awareness: Through workshops and discussions, students will gain a deeper understanding of the cultural roots and social contexts of Hip Hop and Dancehall, aligning with the curriculum’s emphasis on cultural appreciation.

Asked Questiony
The conference is open to students in grades 8-12 + College and University Students. Limited spaces are open to the public to account for youth not in the school systems.
*Youth ages 13-21 years old.
The conference has a max capacity of 200 students. Students are divided into 4 groups of 50 students each divided by skill level.
Registrations are 100% refundable if cancelled within 10 days. Otherwise a 50% refund is applied. Registrations cancelled after the last date to register are not refundable.
Schools and community organizations will be sent an invoice and payments processed through accounts payable or cheque.
All other registrations are required to pay online with credit card or debit visa.
